These are church members elected by the church body to lead and govern and serve faithfully as members of the Session. The church is governed by a board of elders. Elders serve for a term of three years. The duty of an elder is to nurture the faith and life of the congregation. Together with the pastor, they encourage people in the worship and service of God, equip and renew them for their tasks within the church and for their mission in the world, visit and comfort and care for the people with special attention to the poor, sick and lonely. They inform the pastor and session of those persons and circumstances that need special attention. They assist in worship and should cultivate their ability to teach the Bible and demonstrate a manner of life consistent with the Christian gospel.
